These moments are to be treasured, these moments of fortunate coincidence, of happy chance and the good fortune to be there to see it and, almost better still, to record it.
A short walk in the garden this morning brought me to a shaft of low sunlight shooting under a large camellia – Camellia ‘Donation’ – and onto a group of snowdrops, Galanthus ‘Lapwing’, in front of a terracotta pot and surrounded by the fallen blooms from the camellia. A perfect moment!

Wonderful photo Paddy, which has left me pondering whether wet knees were called for to get that glorious perspective, and how fortunate that Camellias typically shed their flowers whole, rather than individual petals to create such drama, best wishes

A new(ish) camera has a flip-out screen on the back making it very easy to get these low-angle shots and spares the knees and hips so very well.

I sometimes wonder if I am actually living near the top of a mountain! I still don’t have a snowdrop open and I am months away from camellia blooms! Well done – it is a lovely photo.
