Lismore Castle is on the banks of the River Blackwater in west Co. Waterford. I highly recommend a visit and indeed a full day out as the town itself is very beautiful and interesting. There is a very pleasant walk along the bank of the river and returning via woodland and small roads to your starting point – a good place to stretch the legs gently or to give children space to run a little. So, there is plenty to interest and to pass a very pleasant day.
For more information visit: Lismore Castle Gardens and I recommend the blog on the Home Page though I see it hasn’t been updated in a while – the author is busy gardening, I suspect.
I’ll leave the rest to the photographs:
We’re long overdue for a visit to Lismore Castle. Now inspired!

On a different note: flipping through ‘A yer full of flowers’ in the hammock – thanks for the tip.

Lismore is beautiful. Have you read The Village of Longing by George O’Brien? It’s a lovely memoir of growing up in Lismore in the 1950s.
