Following up on this morning’s early post: the rain cleared and we were able to go ahead with placing Mary’s new pot in the garden. It is now in position and she is very happy with it.
The wheelbarrow was the best option for moving the pot from car to the top of the garden. We had it well padded to avoid any damage. As you can see – Mary wearing her coat – the rain hadn’t quite fully stopped but there was an impatience to get the pot in place. A little tipping around, a little tidying of the ground and surrounding plants And, she’s happy with the result. We had thought of putting the pot on a stand of some sort but decided to simply let it stand in the border among the plants. It looks a little too clean at the moment but will soon weather to a more mellow colour. The long view: the pot was placed to line up with the axis of the White Garden.
Looks a beauty. I like the positioning. I just wonder. As it’s defining the view through the white garden would a low plinth in Terra cotta about a foot high give it more oomph. I wondered also would a square or straight rounsided pot upside down do the job. Just random thoughts but it is lovely as it is. Note new address. I refuse to pay Eircom for what had been a shaky enough service

Mary was looking for one of those “square or straight roundsided pots” but they are so very difficult to come upon. Next time!

Yes, Mary’s positioning to fit in with another area of the garden – making vistas as they say!
